The Valley is the flat, open ground through the middle of the property, and the hills around it are why it works. They keep the sound in and the wind out, and they hold the last half hour of light after it has left the grass. The fourth side is the mountain.
This is where you marry. It is also where the rehearsal happens the night before, where cocktails can be poured under the sky, and where dinner can be laid if the evening is the kind that wants to stay outside. Whatever is set here is set for one couple: there is no second ceremony on the property, and nobody’s arch comes down while yours goes up.
It is eight hundred and sixty feet from the front door of Magnolia House, and everyone walks it.
